8/12/2009· The temp sensor in the thermostat housing provides data to the ECU, and the ECO controls the auxiliary fan. The Renix (''87 ''90) radiator tank sensor is nothing but an ONOFF switch. The HO sensor in the thermostat housing is a variable resistor that reports the actual temperatore (expressed as ohms).

A twostage thermostat is used for better coolant temperature control with less fluctuation and quicker warm up. 1993 Capri July, ... temperature sensor, temperature gauge sender, and automatic transaxle oil cooler fittings in radiator tank, if applicable.
24/6/2009· The engine adjusts its fuel mixture based only on the first O2 sensor on 2 sensor equipped XJ''s. Based on my research and reading the stock ECU (PCM) for setting up my Motec here is the setting''s for "warm up" mode. I do know the OHM that the CTS (coolant temp sensor) sends at different temps however. All degree''s are in Fahrenheit.
11/8/2007· 1989 Cherokee XJ, blah blah Open 91+ cooling system, with new style thermostat housing with the provision for a temp sensor. New 3 core open style radiator does NOT have the stock provision for the temp sensor that would activate the electric fan. So, the question is, does anyone...

Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS) Located in engine coolant jacket on the driver''s side of the block. To test, use a high impedance voltohmmeter. Resistance should be less than 1000 ohms with a WARM engine (examples = 212* would be about 185 ohms, 160* would be about 450 ohms, 100* (not warm enough) would be 1,600 ohms).

The CTS is an important primary engine sensor, and is typically threaded into a port on the B bank thermostat housing...(for the V12 engine). The CTS "measures" coolant temperature, as a heat resistance value, and transmits that value to the engine ECU, The value is measured in ohms resistance.
3/6/2011· Got this latest XJ about a month and a half ago. It''s a 2000, /AW4 completely stock. Jeep has been fine up till now although I noticed that the temp gauge seems a touch hotter than my built XJ. The built one sits at exactly 100˚C indicated (~210˚F). This new one sits a touch higher. Gauge isn''t that accurate but I''d say it might be 220230˚F.

18/11/2021· The average coolant temperature sensor replacement cost is between 50 and 250, depending on the car model and labor costs. A coolant temperature sensor costs 30 to 100, and the labor costs 20 to 150. The coolant temperature sensor itself is often quite cheap and you can often find them around 40 for a quality one.

6/10/2012· Another trick is you take out the coolant temp gauge sensor in the back of the head and fill until coolant comes out of that. Taking the sensor out will let the air flow out instead of getting trapped in there. Another thing that might help keep it cool is putting the factory 195 degree thermostat in.
21/11/2020· Table of Contents [ show] 1 What is a coolant temperature sensor. 2 Signs of a bad or failing coolant temperature sensor. 1. Poor mileage. 2. The check engine light is going to activate. 3. The smoke exhaust pipe is going to emit black smoke.
The coolant temperature sensor is a crucial component for ensuring your engine performs at an optimal level. It is based on the signals from the sensor that the car computer calculates engine timing and fuel injection. If the signal is wrong, this important calculation will be misjudged.

Use the right thermostat. The engine is designed to use a 195 degree thermostat, and will normally run at an indicated 210. Running a 180 degree thermostat doesn''t always help lower the temperature, it only lowers the temperature at which the ''stat opens and circulates with the radiator.
12/1/2017· Beginning to do maintenance on a new purchase. We change the Coolant, Temperature Sensor, and Thermostat, Including new radiator and heater hoses.
8/10/2012· The engine temp guage on my dash will move maybe 1/8'''' after a long trip, but the heat is blowing warm and the radiator hoses are hot. So I was thinking maybe the temp sensor is bad, after doing some searching on here to find the location of the sensor I found a picture showing it was directly behind the thermostat.

22/5/2008· I run a 180* thermostat and my fan switch is a 200* on and 185* off. This way with the 180* thermostat, the coolant can drop to 180* and shut the fan off at 185*. You will find that a 180* stat is the most common for these cars. Coolant running at 200* is PERFECTLY acceptable. Newer cars turn the fan on between 212*215* so 200* is perfect.
